Kids Purple Heart Short Sleeve Onesie
One of our pink heart onesies happened to get some small blue spots on it (likely from dyeing too close to the indigo vat), so we ran with it and dipped the whole onesie in our organic indigo vat for this beautiful lavender color. Truly a one-of-a kind.
This onesie is made with organic cotton and naturally dyed. It was hand-dyed with cochineal while leaving an undyed heart on the front by using traditional Japanese shibori techniques.
Ethically designed and manufactured in Los Angeles.

Unlike industry-standard petroleum-based dyes, this onesie is dyed with organic cochineal and indigo leaves.
Cochineal are small insects that live on and eat prickly pear cactuses. They are native to Central America and have been safely used as a dye for thousands of years for their ability to make strong and beautiful fuchsias and reds. Prior to synthetic food coloring, cochineal (also known as carminic acid) was also commonly used as a food colorant.
Indigo leaf dye has been safely used for thousands of years (dating back to 2000-3000 B.C.) for its ability to make strong and beautiful blues. In the 1800s, natural indigo was almost completely replaced by synthetic indigo, which is derived from the known toxin aniline - a chemical that has been used to make rocket fuel.
Ethically made all the way through.
From start to finish, every company involved in Sustain's supply chain provides fair wages and safe working conditions.
Made with GOTS certified organic cotton fabric and dyes - the highest standard in organic. Every single step of in the creation of this onesie, from the growing of the cotton, to making the onesie, is ecofriendly.
Also, plant dyes do not produce toxic run-off like conventional (and other organic dyes) and plant dyes remove carbon from the air during the plants' growth, helping reverse the cause of global climate change.
