Plant-dyed Silk Hair Ties

Our newly updated hair ties are made with the same organic silk we love, but now with over 20% more stretch, allowing you increased versatility in your updo.

Organic silk is our go-to for hair ties - the natural luster of silk helping to reduce breakage and pulls. Plus, the beauty of our plant-dyed silk makes a unique and lovely bracelet between hairdos.

Made from 100% natural materials, our hair ties are safe for your skin and hair. 

We recommend 1-2 wraps for a loose updo and 2-3 for workouts (depending on the thickness of your hair).

Each hair tie measures approx. 6.75" in circumference.

Unlike industry-standard petroleum-based dyes, Sustain's hair ties are dyed with plants. We avoid the harmful synthetic dyes that can leach into your skin and hair. Our plant dyes are 100% natural - not just safe for the environment, but part of it.

The silk used in these hair ties is non-violent silk (also known as Ahimsa silk) in which the moths are allowed to hatch naturally from the cocoon, rather than being boiled alive as is standard for conventional silk. The silk is ethically sourced from small family farms in rural India.

The dyes and sewing thread used are GOTS certified organic. GOTS certification, in additional to its strict environmental standards, also certifies that every company involved in the production of the fabric provides fair wages and safe working conditions.

This elastic is from a company that practices fair trade throughout its supply chain.

The hair ties are manufactured either in-house in Los Angeles where we provide safe working conditions and fair wages or our fair trade certified facility in India.

Made with organic non-violent silk, organic cotton sewing thread, natural rubber elastic and organic plant dyes.

The organic cotton sewing thread and plant dyes are GOTS certified - the highest standard in organic. GOTS certification requires every step in the process of growing to manufacturing to meet stringent organic standards.

The silk fabric is from organically raised silkworms, the elastic is 65% organic cotton and 35% natural rubber, and the label is 100% organic cotton printed with soy-based ink.

Also, the plants grown for natural dyes remove more carbon from the atmosphere during their growth than is released during the dyeing process, helping to reverse the cause of global climate change.

Wash by hand when needed with a mild, pH-neutral detergent. Air dry.
