Indigo Organic Cotton/Linen Napkins

Our linen/cotton blend napkins are a sophisticated yet practical addition to any zero waste lifestyle. Our napkins provide both form and function.

The organic linen/cotton fabric plus the subtle yet sophisticated twill (indigo napkins) and herringbone (indigo striped napkins) patterns are elegant enough to grace a dinner party table, while also providing function. The organic linen is strong enough to withstand consistent washing and the organic cotton in addition to the open weave patterns increase absorbency compared to standard flat weaves. The napkins are sewn with mitered edges, for additional strength.

Each napkin is yarn-dyed with natural indigo.

Made with organic 50% linen/ 50% cotton fabric, and organic cotton thread and labels. No harmful chemical whiteners, optical brighteners or industrial fabric softeners. Free of petroleum. Good for you and the Earth.

Each napkin is approximately 18" x 18". 

Unlike industry-standard petroleum-based dyes, these napkins are dyed with organic indigo leaves.

Indigo leaf dye has been safely used for thousands of years (dating back to 2000-3000 B.C.) for its ability to make strong and beautiful blues. In the 1800s, natural indigo was almost completely replaced by synthetic indigo, which is derived from the known toxin aniline (a chemical that has been used to make rocket fuel).

The fabric is handloomed by a non-profit that focuses on the welfare and development of deprived, marginalized and downtrodden traditional handloom weaving communities in India by providing jobs having fair wages and safe working conditions.

The napkins were manufactured by a Fair Trade certified facility in India.

These napkins are made with organic fabric and 100% cotton sewing thread. Every single step of in the creation of this piece, from the growing of the cotton and linen, to final manufacture, is independently verified to be organic.

The yarn is naturally-dyed by Biodye in India, a company that uses sustainable methods to collect the plants for plant dyeing and also adheres to international organic standards, without the use of toxic or harmful chemicals.

The napkins are manufactured in a GOTS certified facility in India that is at the forefront of sustainable production, including having solar powered manufacturing facilities.

Machine wash on gentle cycle using a mild detergent and without fabric softeners. To keep natural linen looking its best, hang dry or tumble dry on low until damp and then lay flat to dry. Light iron when needed.
