Due to the complexities of plant dyes and unique, hand-dyed nature of each piece, color variation is natural. We recommend purchasing the cami and shorts at the same time if you would like the set, so that we can match the colors as best as possible.

The model is 5'10" and wearing a size medium. The shorts in size small has a 28" unstretched elastic waistband and a 3" inseam.

In contrast to the industry-standard petroleum-based dyes, this set is dyed with natural plant dyes from chamomile, lavender, and rose flowers, myrobalan fruit, pomegranate peels and indigo leaves.

Flowers like lavender, chamomile and rose have been used for centuries for their ayurvedic properties. Clothing and fabrics dyed with these flowers are believed to aid in relaxation, helping to bring on a peaceful and deep sleep. In recent studies, these herbal flowers have been linked to reducing anxiety, improving memory and have even been linked with anti-cancer activity.

The dried fruits of myrobalan trees used for dyeing are commonly used in ayurvedic and traditional Tibetan medicine. Because myrobalan is very high in antoxidants, it has been used to protect against various age and heart related diseases.

Pomegranate peels are rich in vitamins and antioxidants, even more than the juicy pomegranate seeds. The peels are anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial and are consistently used in beauty products for maintaining healthy skin.

Indigo leaf dye has been safely used for thousands of years (dating back to 2000-3000 B.C.) for its ability to make strong and beautiful blues. In the 1800s, natural indigo was almost completely replaced by synthetic indigo, which is derived from the known toxin aniline (a chemical that has been used to make rocket fuel).

The fabric and sewing thread used in this shirt are GOTS certified, which in additional to strict environmental standards, also certifies that every company involved in the production of the fabric provides fair wages and safe working conditions.

These shorts are made with GOTS certified organic cotton fabric and sewing thread. GOTS certification is the highest standard in organic. Every step - from the growing of the cotton, to final manufacture, is independently verified to be organic.

The plant dyes used are either USDA certified organic (lavender, chamomile and rose) or GOTS certified organic (indigo leaf, pomegranate peels and myrobalan fruit). Also, plant dyes do not produce toxic run-off like conventional (and other organic dyes) and plant dyes remove carbon from the air during the plant's growth, helping reverse the cause of global climate change.

Machine wash on gentle cycle using a mild pH-neutral detergent and without fabric softeners. Tumble dry on low.
