Kids Organic Plant-dyed Shibori Dress

Each dress is hand-tied using traditional Japanese shibori techniques and then naturally dyed using locally-sourced organic avocado skins and seeds and GOTS certified organic extracts from madder roots. Each dress is unique.

Unlike industry-standard petroleum-based dyes, these dresses are dyed with organic avocado skins and seeds and organic madder roots.

Avocados make a beautiful, lasting pink dye from the skins and seeds. The main pigments are tannins, natural astringents also found in wines and tea, and anthrocyanins, which are highly antioxidant. Much safer for your skin than synthetic alternatives.

Madder root is one of the oldest natural dyes, known for its ability to make beautiful reds. It has been safely used for thousands of years, since at least ancient Egypt (cloth dyed with it has even been found alongside the possessions of King Tut).

The entire production of this dress, from the growing of the organic cotton to the manufacture is GOTS certified, which in additional to its strict environmental standards, also certifies that every company involved in production provides fair wages and safe working conditions.

This dress is made with GOTS certified organic cotton fabric - the highest standard in organic. Every single step of in the creation of this dress, from the growing of the cotton, to final manufacture, is independently verified to be organic.

After manufacture, the dress was locally dyed with GOTS certified organic madder roots. These plant dyes do not produce toxic run-off like conventional (and other organic dyes) and plant dyes remove carbon from the air during the plant's growth, helping reverse the cause of global climate change.

Care Instructions: Machine wash on the gentle cycle using a mild, pH neutral detergent and without fabric softeners. Tumble dry on low.
