Beautiful, semi-sheer organic cotton shirt. The fabric has been ayurvedically dyed using a unique combination of over 20 plants and herbs, including indigo, pomegranate, white sandalwood, asparagus, nettle, holy basil, and neem, all wonderful for your skin. Each piece is unique due to the traditional hand-dyeing and handlooming techniques used in making the fabric.

Indi-go is dyed according to traditional techniques of ayuvedic medicine, using a combination of medicinal plants focused on detoxification and improving your skin. The plants used include indigo, pomegranate, white sandalwood, asparagus, 4 types of ficus, golden apple, 12 types of nettle, 12 types of holy basil, 4 types of neem, Alexandrian laurel balltree, inula racemosa, redwood fig tree, cuscus grass, andrographis paniculata, indian ginseng, nell and beechwood. The fabric is carefully treated with these plants in a process that keeps the beneficial properties of the various plants and herbs alive.

The fabric is handloomed and hand-dyed according to traditional Indian techniques. The company that employs the handloomers and dyers is a non-profit focused on the welfare and development of deprived, marginalized and downtrodden traditional handloom weaving communities. Its employees are paid fair wages and have safe working conditions.

After weaving and dyeing, the fabric is manufactured into shirts by a local manufacturer in Los Angeles that has good working conditions and pays its employees fair wages.

This shirt is made with organic cotton fabric that is grown, harvested and processed without the use of harmful chemicals that could leech into our environment.

In addition, this shirt is dyed with natural, sustainably harvested plants and herbs. Natural plant dyes are the most sustainable type of dye known. Not only do plant dyes not produce toxic run-off during the dyeing process, but our plant dyes have a negative carbon footprint. Meaning that the plants used in plant dyeing remove more carbon from the atmosphere during their growth than is released during the dyeing process, helping to reverse the cause of global climate change.
