Christmas Tree Long Sleeve Onesie

Made with organic cotton and dyed with organic plants, these onesies are safe for our most precious. They are individually hand-dyed with plant dyes while leaving an undyed Christmas tree on the front using traditional Japanese shibori techniques.  Due to the natural dyeing techniques used, the color of each piece is a complex intermingling of blue, yellow and green creating a uniquely beautiful piece.

Unlike industry-standard petroleum-based dyes, this onesie is dyed with organic indigo leaves and weld leaves and flowers.

Indigo leaf dye has been safely used for thousands of years (dating back to 2000-3000 B.C.) for its ability to make strong and beautiful blues. In the 1800s, natural indigo was almost completely replaced by synthetic indigo, which is derived from the known toxin aniline - a chemical that has been used to make rocket fuel.

Weld is an incredible natural dye plant that was historically used throughout Europe, Asia and was even used by native Americans. It is known for its ability to make the longest lasting natural yellows.

This onesie is Fairtrade certified, which means that it was produced in accordance with Fairtrade International's rigorous environmental, economic and social standards. Fairtrade's social standards require that all companies involved in production use nondiscriminatory practices, abstain from child labor, and provide fair prices, to name a few. These standards are independently verified by a third party.

This onesie is made with GOTS certified organic cotton fabric and plant dyes - the highest standard in organic. Every single step of in the creation of this piece, from the growing of the cotton, to final manufacture, is independently verified to be organic.

After manufacture, the onesie was locally plant dyed in Los Angeles. Plant dyes do not produce toxic run-off like conventional (and other organic dyes) and plant dyes remove carbon from the air during the plant's growth, helping reverse the cause of global climate change.

Machine wash on gentle cycle using a mild pH-neutral detergent and without fabric softeners. Tumble dry on low.
