Same flattering and fitted cut as our Colorgrown Cotton Tee, this organic cotton tee was hand-dyed using traditional shibori techniques with natural indigo. Each piece is unique.

Unlike industry-standard petroleum-based dyes, this tee is dyed with organic indigo leaves.

Indigo leaf dye has been safely used for thousands of years (dating back to 2000-3000 B.C.) for its ability to make strong and beautiful blues. In the 1800s, natural indigo was almost completely replaced by synthetic indigo, which is derived from the known toxin aniline - a chemical that has been used to make rocket fuel.

The fabric, sewing thread and plant dyes used in this top are GOTS certified, which in additional to its strict environmental standards, also certifies that every company involved in the production provides fair wages and safe working conditions.

The top was manufactured in Los Angeles by a small company that likewise provides its workers safe working conditions and fair wages.

This shirt is made with GOTS certified organic cotton fabric, plant dyes and sewing thread. GOTS certification is the highest standard in organic. Every step - from the growing of the cotton, to final manufacture, is independently verified to be organic.

Also, plant dyes do not produce toxic run-off like conventional (and other organic dyes) and plant dyes remove carbon from the air during the plant's growth, helping reverse the cause of global climate change.

Machine wash on gentle cycle using a mild pH-neutral detergent and without fabric softeners. Tumble dry on low.
